Truck ad formats compared: rear, sides or full branding?
FrameAds editorial team · Updated on
An articulated truck offers three ad formats: the trailer rear (2.45 × 2.70 m), the two sides (13.60 × 2.70 m each) and the combination of both. Rear advertising is the most affordable entry from €899 per truck and month, side advertising offers the most space per euro with 73.4 m², and full branding combines both on around 80 m².
Rear advertising (L7): the affordable entry
The rear surface of the trailer measures 2.45 × 2.70 m (6.6 m²). It sits at eye level of drivers behind the truck – in traffic jams, at roadworks, at traffic lights and on long motorway stretches where cars follow the truck for a while.
- Price: €899 net per truck and month.
- Strength: the most affordable format with the lowest cost per thousand views – around €0.80.
- Ideal for: getting started, many trucks on a manageable budget and short, clear messages.
Side advertising (L72): the big stage
The two trailer sides measure 13.60 × 2.70 m each, 73.4 m² in total. That makes the side a moving large-format billboard: the left side is seen by everyone overtaking or coming the other way, the right side by everyone at slip roads, car parks and service areas.
- Price: €1,399 net per truck and month.
- Strength: the most space per euro – around €19 per m² and month.
- Ideal for: brand awareness, large visuals and products you want to show.
Full branding (L80): maximum presence
Sides and rear together add up to around 80 m² of ad space per truck (80.1 m²). Your brand is visible from every angle – when overtaking, in oncoming traffic and behind the truck.
- Price: €1,999 net per truck and month.
- Strength: one consistent brand appearance without a “blind side”.
- Ideal for: product launches, strong brand appearances and campaigns where a consistent look matters.

Which format suits your goal?
- As many contacts as possible on a small budget: rear advertising on several trucks – the cost per thousand views is lowest here.
- Brand awareness with a strong visual: side advertising – the most space per euro.
- Product launch or big brand appearance: full branding – a vehicle that works from every side.
- Several countries at once: any format on vehicles in the Europe network.
You can select several formats in the enquiry form; in the offer we plan which vehicles carry which format.
One-off costs: printing and installation
For every format, printing plus installation and removal of the wrap are only paid once – depending on the area. The longer the campaign, the less these costs weigh per month. There are discounts for several trucks and longer durations. All details: how much does truck advertising cost?
Design tips per format
- Rear – almost square (2.45 × 2.70 m): logo, one line of message, domain. Anyone stuck behind it in a jam reads along.
- Sides – very wide landscape (13.60 × 2.70 m): one large visual, a short message and a clearly visible logo and domain. Keep important content away from the edges.
- Full branding: plan sides and rear as one – same colours and brand, the shortest message on the rear.
- Mockup: our designer puts your design on all selected areas free of charge before you decide.
